It shouldn’t have gone seven games but it did. Even then, it didn’t matter to the Warriors who, once again, knocked off the Houston Rockets in the playoffs.
Why it matters: Steph Curry and Golden State’s last ride continues.
State of play: The Warriors built a 3-1 series lead before getting blown out in Game 5 and losing at home in Game 6.
- But the Dubs, full of vets and champions, handled business easily on the road Sunday night against the younger Rockets to win Game 7 by 14 — 103-89.
Stunning stats: Buddy Hield poured in 33 points and made nine threes (out of 11 attempts) in the process. He tied an NBA record for most three point makes in a Game 7.
- The Warriors are now 5-0 all time vs. Houston in the playoffs.
What’s next: A rested Minnesota Timberwolves team awaits.
What we’re watching: The Wolves haven’t played since Wednesday after they eliminated the Lakers in the first round.
- They won that series in five games and did so by smothering the Lakers, holding them under 100 points in three games.
- That means Curry can expect another series in which he’s hounded by younger, athletic wings.
Plus: Golden State will have to contend with Anthony Edwards who many say has the chance to become the new face of the NBA.
Yes, but: The Warriors won the season series against Minnesota 3-1 and that was before they acquired Jimmy Butler III.
The bottom line: Buckle up for another grueling series.
How to watch: Game 1 tips off Tuesday night at 6:30pm on TNT.
