UPDATES: Severe thunderstorm warnings in effect for parts of northern Kentucky
Updated: 11:14 PM EDT Mar 30, 2025
THERE, AND WE’RE GOING TO BE RESETTING AND CONTINUING TO TRACK THESE STORMS. ALL RIGHT, ADAM, THANK YOU SO MUCH. AS WE’VE BEEN FOLLOWING HERE, WE’VE SEEN SEVERAL AREAS WHERE WE’VE HAD SOME DAMAGE HERE. BLUE ASH IS ONE OF THEM. WE’VE HEARD A REPORT THAT THERE WAS ACTUALLY A TREE THAT FELL ONTO A HOME THERE. THANKFULLY, WE’VE BEEN TOLD FROM A VIEWER THAT THAT PERSON IS OKAY. ANOTHER AREA WE’RE SEEING SOME OF THE DAMAGE IS WE’VE HEARD OF TREES DOWN IN THE MASON AREA NEAR KINGS ISLAND. WE’VE ALSO SEEN SOME ISSUES WHERE TREES WERE DOWN IN WAYNE TOWNSHIP, AS WELL AS NEAR THE HAMILTON AREA, AND WE HAVE SEVERAL CREWS OUT TONIGHT IN OUR STORM TRACKER. THEY’VE BEEN REPORTING SOME OF THE LIGHTNING, MANY OF YOU SENDING US SOME OF THOSE PHOTOS AND VIDEO OF YOUR HOMES. SO MUCH LIGHTNING. WE’VE SEEN A LOT OF FLOODED ROADS AS WELL. OUR DANIELLE DINDAK IS LIVE FOR US TONIGHT IN KINGS MILLS. SHE’S BEEN IN A STORM TRACKER NOW FOR SEVERAL HOURS, TRACKING SOME OF THAT DAMAGE. SO, DANIEL, WHERE ARE YOU EXACTLY? AND WHAT ARE WE LOOKING AT EXACTLY? BEHIND YOU. YEAH. LINDSAY, WE FINALLY HAD A CHANCE TO GET OUT OF THE STORM TRACKER. AND RIGHT NOW, I’M ON KINGS AVENUE IN KINGS MILLS. AND AS YOU’RE MENTIONING, ALL THE TREES DOWN. SO TAKE A LOOK AT THIS. THIS MIGHTY TREE TWISTED OFF. YOU CAN’T REALLY SEE IT FROM WHERE I’M STANDING RIGHT NOW. IT’S VERY DARK OUT HERE. SO THE TREE ACTUALLY TWISTED OFF, FLIPPED RIGHT ON THIS ROAD. ONCE AGAIN, THIS IS KINGS AVENUE HERE IN KINGS MILLS. NO POWER AT ALL. AS SOON AS WE GOT OFF THE INTERSTATE TO GET ONTO THIS EXIT, WE WERE MET WITH LOTS OF LIGHTS, FLASHING LIGHTS IN FRONT OF US. AND ACTUALLY, I’M STANDING HERE WITH CHRISSY. SHE WAS HERE DURING THAT STORM. CHRISSY, ARE YOU ABLE TO TELL US WHAT THIS SOUNDED LIKE AS IT WAS COMING THROUGH? IF YOU COULD JUST TAKE A STEP TOWARDS ME. IF YOU DON’T MIND. IT WAS LIKE, REALLY ROUGH WIND AND THE LIGHTNING HIT AND IT ACTUALLY SNAPPED THE TREE IN HALF. IT WAS PRETTY SCARY. THANK GOD IT DIDN’T HIT MY HOUSE. NOW IT SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF AREA AROUND HERE IS WITHOUT POWER. IS THAT WHAT YOU’RE DEALING WITH? DO YOU KNOW IF EVERYONE IS OKAY IN THIS AREA AS WELL? I’M DEALING WITHOUT POWER AND SO. BUT SO IS EVERYBODY ELSE. BUT EVERYTHING’S DARK AROUND HERE AND NOTHING WORKS DOWN THE STREET, SPEEDWAY OR NOTHING. SO IT’S PRETTY, PRETTY BAD. ME AND MY DAUGHTER WERE DRIVING AND ACTUALLY TO WHAT WAS THAT LIKE? THAT WAS PRETTY SCARY. IT WAS LIKE HYDROPLANING ON THE GROUND, YOU KNOW, AND THE TREES WERE IN THE ROAD ON THE WAY BACK TO ON TOP OF IT. SO IT WAS PRETTY BAD. IS THIS TREE DOWN THE ONLY THING YOU KNOW IN THIS AREA, OR IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR BEFORE YOU GET HERE? THERE’S TREES DOWN TOO, DOWN THE STREET AND DOWN BY THE SCHOOL. AND BEFORE YOU COME TO THE SCHOOL, TOO. SO THANK YOU. CHRISSY. I’M SO HAPPY YOU’RE SAFE. SO, LIKE I MENTIONED, THIS GIANT TREE IS DOWN. SO, FOR INSTANCE, I’M ABOUT FIVE SEVEN. SO TO PUT THAT IN PERSPECTIVE, THIS TREE HAS TO BE OVER TEN FOOT. IT SNAPPED OFF FROM RIGHT UP HERE. YOU CAN SEE WHERE IT TWISTED OFF OF THIS GIANT TREE THAT WAS PROBABLY THERE FOR MULTIPLE YEARS. THANKFULLY IT’S JUST IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD ONCE AGAIN ON KINGS AVENUE HERE. WE’RE ACTUALLY VERY CLOSE TO THE GUNPOWDER CARTRIDGE FACTORY. AND SO JUST NOT TOO LONG AGO, I WAS TALKING TO OUR ANCHOR STEVEN ALBRITTON. HE GAVE ME SOME NOTES OF ALSO WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THIS AREA. HE SAID DOWN BY CAMP CEDAR IS ACTUALLY JUST TORN TO PIECES. HE SAID THE FENCING IS DOWN. MOBILE HOMES WERE THROWN ABOUT AND THAT, LIKE I MENTIONED, WE’RE ALL HERE BY THE OLD CARTRIDGE FACTORY. A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE KIND OF TAKING THIS IN ONCE AGAIN ON KINGS AVENUE, THERE’S MULTIPLE CARS ACTUALLY BEHIND US AS THIS RAIN IS COMING DOWN TRYING TO TAKE IN WHAT’S ALL HAPPENING. BUT THE BIG THING TONIGHT, IT’S VERY, VERY DARK OUT HERE. THE RAIN IS STILL COMING DOWN. AND THE BIG THING IS IN A FEW HOURS, WE’LL TRULY KNOW THE SCOPE OF HOW BAD THIS STORM IS. I DO WANT TO MENTION SO EARLIER ON WHEN THE STORM WAS COMING IN, WE WERE IN NORTHERN KENTUCKY OVER IN BOONE COUNTY, HEAVY LIGHTNING. THE WIND WAS ALSO BLOWING DOWN THERE, AND WE SAW HEAVY LIGHTNING ALL THE WAY UP 71 TO WHERE I’M STANDING RIGHT NOW. SO WE KNOW THERE’S WIDESPREAD ISSUES, BUT ONCE AGAIN, WE DON’T KNOW THE FULL SCOPE OF EVERYTHING GOING ON BECAUSE WE KEEP GETTING THOSE REPORTS IN, LIKE YOU HEARD ADAM AND ALLISON AND ALSO YOU, LINDSEY, TALK ABOUT. SO WE’LL CONTINUE TO GATHER SOME MORE INFORMATION. LIKE I MENTIONED, I’M IN KINGS MILLS. THIS TREE IS DOWN RIGHT HERE ON KINGS AVENUE. AND FOR NOW, SEND IT BACK TO YOU SO I CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT ELSE IS HAPPENING IN THIS AREA. ALL RIGHT, DANIELLE DINDAK, WE APPRECIATE THE UPDATE. WE’RE SO GRATEFUL THAT WOMAN IS OKAY. YOU SEE THE TREE THERE. AND YOU ALSO KIND OF SCARY TO HEAR THERE THAT SHE MENTIONED HYDROPLANING. HAVE YOU SEEN PEOPLE OUT ON THE ROADS? DANNY, BEFORE YOU GO, HAVE YOU SEEN PEOPLE ON THE ROADS? ARE THEY STAYING INSIDE? THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE ACTUALLY STANDING OUT IN THE ROADS BECAUSE, LIKE I SAID, WE DID SEE A LOT OF FIRST RESPONDERS ON THE OTHER SIDE. BUT I THINK THE ISSUE THAT FIRST RESPONDERS ARE DEALING WITH RIGHT NOW IS THEY’RE JUST SO MANY REPORTS FOR THEM TO GET TO. SO THE BIG THING IS, IF YOU’RE OUT HERE RIGHT NOW, JUST GO BACK HOME, BECAUSE WE DID SEE SOME WIRES DOWN. SOME WIRES WERE DANGLING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. SO YOU NEVER WANT TO STEP OR BE NEAR ANY LIVE WIRES. THAT IS JUST SO DANGEROUS. SO DO NOT GO OUTSIDE TO TRY TO ASSESS THAT DAMAGE RIGHT NOW. MAKE SURE TO STAY INSIDE. I DO KNOW FROM JUST TAKING A LOOK BEHIND ME, A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO DIRECT CARS, LET THEM KNOW NOT TO COME DOWN THIS WAY. LIKE I MENTIONED, FIRST RESPONDERS ARE OUT HERE IN FORCE, BUT THERE’S JUST SO MANY CALLS RIGHT NOW THAT THEY JUST CAN’T GET EVERYWHERE. RIGHT NOW, I ACTUALLY SEE SOME FLASHING LIGHTS BEHIND ME, BUT WHEN IT DOES COME TO HYDROPLANING, THAT’S REALLY IMPORTANT RIGHT NOW. SO IF YOU DO HAVE TO GO TO WORK OR YOU HAVE TO GO SOMEWHERE BECAUSE IT’S AN EMERGENCY, WE HYDROPLANED OURSELF MANY TIMES AS WE’RE TRAVELING UP HERE ON 71. SO MAKE SURE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GO ANYWHERE TONIGHT TO STAY HOME
