The Las Vegas Raiders are doubling down on their latest quarterback acquisition.
Just weeks after trading for Geno Smith, the team has signed the veteran signal-caller to a two-year contract extension, solidifying his role as their starter for the foreseeable future.

According to multiple reports, Smith’s new deal is worth $75 million, with $66.5 million guaranteed, and could reach $88.5 million if certain performance incentives are met.
Smith’s arrival in Las Vegas comes after a turbulent 2024 season in which the Raiders cycled through quarterbacks Gardner Minshew, Aidan O’Connell, and Desmond Ridder, none of whom provided the stability the team desperately needed.
With a 4-13 record and a combined passer rating of just 80.05 from their quarterbacks, the Raiders were in search of a long-term solution.
Now, with the 34-year-old Smith under center and reunited with head coach Pete Carroll, the team is betting on his experience to lead them back to playoff contention.
Smith’s extension positions him among the league’s better-paid quarterbacks, tying him with Derek Carr as the 16th highest in average annual value.
While some may question the price tag, the Raiders are confident in Smith’s ability to stabilize the position.
His familiarity with Carroll, whom he played under for five seasons in Seattle, was a key factor in the team’s decision.
