OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Traffic conditions in the Omaha metro are expected to worsen as the day goes on Tuesday.
Our First Alert 6 Weather Team forecasts a blizzard Tuesday night will result in a widespread 3″-6″ in the metro. Winds gusts are expected to get up to 60 to 70 miles per hour.
Jaret Lansford with First Alert 6 Traffic advises drivers to watch for slick conditions at ramps and interchanges across the metro.
Lansford says the rain will become more steady in the afternoon, leading to more wet conditions.

“The worst travel will be seen after 6 PM as the rain changes to snow and the wind picks up, creating very difficult travel,” Lansford says in the Traffic Blog.
The City of Council Bluffs has issued a snow emergency. It will go into effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday until 7 p.m. Wednesday. No parking is allowed on the streets designed as snow emergency routes.
Pottawattamie County has also declared a snow emergency until 7 p.m. Drivers should not park on any public, county road as crews remove snow, officials say.
The Omaha Public Power District says they are ready to deal with any tree damage caused by the storm. Officials say the high winds could impact Omaha’s power grid.
