Oakland Election Live Results – April 2025

Oakland’s special election on April 15 is headlined by a mayoral race to finish out the term of former Mayor Sheng Thao, who was recalled by voters in November. The two leading candidates are former Rep. Barbara Lee and former City Council Member Loren Taylor. Though Taylor has a lead in early results, it is likely to be a very close race.

Voters passed a ballot measure to raise the city’s sales tax rate in order to help reduce its nearly $90 million budget deficit.

Residents of City Council District 2 elected candidate Charlene Wang to serve out the term of Nikki Fortunato Bas, who was elected to the Alameda County Board of Supervisors in November.

This race uses ranked choice voting. The table includes data on the first and last rounds of voting.
