What we’re watching: New seasons of “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Black Mirror” and “Hacks,” and a series starring Jon Hamm as a finance bro-turned-burglar.
State of play: The final season of this award-winning adaption follows June’s determination to take down Gilead, highlighting the character’s resilience in the pursuit of justice and freedom.
What’s next: Margaret Atwood’s 2019 novel “The Testaments,” a sequel that takes place 15 years after the events of “The Handmaid’s Tale,” is being developed into a new Hulu series.
“Your Friends And Neighbors,” available Friday on Apple TV+
The vibe: Jon Hamm stars as fired and divorced hedge fund manager who discovers his neighbors’ secrets after he begins stealing from their homes. Available Friday
Behind the scenes: Creator Jonathan Tropper spoke to Axios about Apple’s strategy for making more streaming hits like “Severance” and “Ted Lasso.”
- “They’re not trying to make a ton of shows and they’re not buying up a lot of people’s ideas,” Topper said. “They want to cultivate a handful of really big swings in different directions.”
“Hacks,” Season 4, available now on Max
Zoom in: Julianne Nicholson, Michaela Watkins, Bresha Webb, Robby Hoffman and Eric Balfour will guest star this season.
The intrigue: “Hacks” won the top award for a comedy series at the 2024 Primetime Emmys and, in 2025, a Golden Globe and the Critics’ Choice award.

“The Accused” on BET+
- This film follows a plant geneticist (played by Paige Audrey-Marie Hurd) who has to survive and expose the truth after being framed for her fiancé’s murder. Available now
- What they’re saying: Hurd tells Axios she picked up boxing a year ago and wanted action for her next role. “I definitely have been wanting to get out of the ‘girl next door’ roles … so when this came across my desk, I was like, ‘Well, as long as I get to fight, like, I really want to do it,'” Hurd says.
“Pop The Balloon Live” on Netflix
- Yvonne Orji (“Insecure”) hosts this new iteration of the viral YouTube dating show that will include “everyday” contestants in addition to cast members from reality shows like “Love Is Blind,” “The Ultimatum,” and “The Circle.” Available at 8pm ET
“Doctor Who,” Season 2, on Disney+
- The Doctor (played by Ncuti Gatwa) meets a new companion in Belinda Chandra (played by Varada Sethu) and must overcome some obstacles to get her safely back to Earth. Available Saturday
“The Clubhouse: A Year With the Red Sox” on Netflix
- Follow the Boston Red Sox players, coaches, front office and families on and off the diamond during the 2024 season. Available now
“Spy High” on Prime Video
- This SXSW award-winning docuseries explores the story of a 15-year-old boy who filed a lawsuit claiming that his high school was spying on him, leading to a larger debate over digital privacy that is still happening in schools today. Available now
“Bad Influence: The Dark Side of Kidfluencing” on Netflix
- Focusing on the allegations of abuse surrounding internet celebrity Piper Rockelle and her momager Tiffany Smith, this three-part docuseries dives into the world of child influencers and exposes the potential dark side of social media fame for minors. Available now
“Pets” on Disney+
- The relationships between humans and pets, from cats and dogs to pigs and horses, is captured in this documentary. Available Friday
“Got To Get Out” on Hulu
- Simu Liu (“Barbie”) hosts this competition show where 20 people (including a few reality stars) share a house and must decide whether to stay put and split $1 million or try and escape the property and steal a larger share. Available Friday
“Not Just A Goof” on Disney+
- This documentary tells the story of the team of up-and-coming filmmakers who created the Disney cult classic “A Goofy Movie.” Available now
“WrestleMania IX: Becoming a Spectacle” on Peacock
- The story of WWE’s first outdoor WrestleMania, live from Las Vegas in 1993, is told in this documentary featuring never-before-seen footage and interviews from Bret Hart, The Undertaker and Hulk Hogan. Available Friday
