Michigan is suspending football coach Sherrone Moore two games for the 2025 season as part of self-imposed sanctions related to the Connor Stalions sign-stealing scandal, according to multiple reports.
Moore, who was the team’s offensive coordinator when the scandal broke in 2023, was accused of deleting a string of 52 text messages with Stalions, per ESPN.
The NCAA, which cited Michigan for 11 violations tied to the scandal last August, could still give Moore further punishment on top of the school’s self-imposed ban.

Moore, 39, will coach the team’s opener at home against New Mexico and its second game on the road against Oklahoma, his alma mater.
He will then serve his suspension for a Week 3 home game against Central Michigan and a Week 4 road tilt against Nebraska, per multiple reports.
Stalions, a former analyst for Michigan, was accused of sending people to film the sideline play signals of the Wolverines’ future opponents. Stalions left the program and became a high school coach in Michigan.

Jim Harbaugh was suspended three games during the 2023 season as a result of the scandal, but Michigan won those games without him and went on to win a national championship.
Harbaugh then returned to the NFL to coach the Chargers, and Moore took over as head coach.
Michigan took a step back during Moore’s first season at the helm, finishing the 2024 regular season with a 7-5 overall record and a 5-4 mark in the Big Ten, though the Wolverines did knock off rival Ohio State in the regular-season finale
The Buckeyes went on to win the national title, while Michigan won its eighth game in the ReliaQuest Bowl over Alabama.
