LANSING, MI — The Mega Millions jackpot has been won for the first time in the new era of the game. A ticket sold in Ohio was the lone winner the $112 million jackpot for the drawing held on Friday, April 18.
Mega Millions increased the price of tickets starting with the drawing on April 8, while also slightly increasing the odds of a jackpot winner.

“Moments like this are exactly why we reimagined the game,” said Joshua Johnston, Lead Director of the Mega Millions Consortium. “This jackpot win – and the millions of dollars going to non-jackpot winners every drawing – is the result of years of planning, collaboration, and listening to what players want. We’re proud of what this game is already delivering for our players and beneficiaries and are looking forward to the future big wins to come.”
Mega Millions is available in 45 states plus the District of Columbia and the U. S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. EST. A set of numbers consists of five white balls between 1-70 and a gold Mega Ball between 1-24.

The last players from Michigan to win a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot is the Breakfast Club lottery club which claimed a $842 million jackpot in June 2024. The members plan to use the money to buy a home in Florida and travel.
And while they were lucky winners, it’s smart for players to check their tickets immediately as a Powerball winner worth $250,000 sold in Bloomfield Hills in 2024 went unclaimed. That money went to the state’s School Aid Fund.
