The Giants finally made moves at quarterback over the past week, first adding Jameis Winston and then signing Russell Wilson to a one-year deal but with financial stipulations that make it seem like he’ll begin the season as the starter. That allows them to select the best player available in Travis Hunter, who would be a major asset on either side of the ball in New York.

Hunter would give the Giants another elite talent after last year’s top-10 selection of Malik Nabers. Not to mention, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner could probably start for New York at either corner or receiver right away, so Big Blue almost can’t go wrong here.

Bottom Line: It’s hard not to see some Micah Parsons in Carter, who not only wears the same No. 11 but also pops off the screen nearly every play due to being a rare caliber athlete. If he can get even stronger, he has All-Pro potential as a player worthy of a top-five pick.

I wouldn’t rule out a quarterback for the Giants here if Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders were available, even after the signings of Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. With the top QBs already off the board in this mock, New York lands the prospect many believe is the best player in the draft.

Adding a two-way standout doesn’t solve the Giants’ most pressing need, but Hunter’s playmaking presence would help the offense and defense improve.
I understand that New York signed Russell Wilson. I do not understand why signing a 36-year-old quarterback to a one-year deal precludes them from drafting a quarterback at No. 3 overall. Is ownership going to be happy if the team is in the same position next offseason? I still believe a rookie quarterback would be in the best interest of self-preservation.

With Jameis Winston in tow, the Giants must continue to fortify the offensive line, and he’ll need to be better protected than past quarterbacks in the Brian Daboll era. Membou is a powerful blocker with elite testing numbers.
