Flood Watch: Significant rainfall could bring 3-6 inches by the weekend
Updated: 2:43 AM EDT Apr 3, 2025
INTO THURSDAY MORNING. SO I THINK WE CAN ALL AGREE THAT WE’RE A LITTLE BIT WEATHER WEARY WITH WHAT WE’VE SEEN. AND HERE’S THE PROBLEM IT’S NOT OVER JUST YET. I SEE RANDI RICO GETTING IN HERE. SHE’S GETTING READY FOR THE MORNING SHOW. SHE JUST DROVE IN ON I-71. KEVIN AND ADAM ARE HERE AS WELL, AND THEY’RE GOING TO BE DETAILING OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS HOW MUCH RAIN WE COULD BE GETTING IN SOME SPOTS, MAYBE UP TO SEVEN INCHES OF RAIN, BUT ON AVERAGE, 3 TO 6IN IS THE NEW NUMBER THAT YOU’VE BEEN THROWING OUT THERE. KEVIN, TONIGHT, THE GOOD NEWS I’VE BEEN LISTENING TO THESE GUYS TALKING ABOUT THE FACT THAT IT’S GOING TO HAPPEN OVER A COURSE OF SEVERAL DAYS, SO THAT COULD BE A BIT OF AN ADVANTAGE. BUT AT THE SAME TIME, THAT’S A WHOLE LOT OF RAIN THAT WE’RE GOING TO BE SEEING HERE IN GREATER CINCINNATI. SO BEFORE WE GO OFF THE AIR, I HAVEN’T GOTTEN THE SIGNAL THAT WE COULD GO OFF THE AIR JUST YET. BUT KEV, YOU GOT YOUR MIC ON. SO NOW THE BIGGEST CONCERN WE’RE OUT OF THE WOODS AS FAR AS YOU KNOW, THE THE THE, YOU KNOW, REAL SEVERE STUFF TONIGHT THE SUN WILL COME UP OBVIOUSLY SOON AND THAT WILL TELL THE TALE. AS TO ALL THE DAMAGE WE’RE DEALING WITH. AND I THINK THERE’S GOING TO BE A LOT OF DAMAGE ON THAT MORNING SHOW. WHEN WE START AT 430 IN THE MORNING. BUT OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS, TALK ABOUT HOW DANGEROUS THIS RAIN SITUATION COULD BE WITH THE FLOODING. WELL, WE’RE CERTAINLY GOING TO WATCH SOME HIGH WATER BECOME AN ISSUE, ESPECIALLY I THINK BY THE TIME WE REACH FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY FOR US AROUND THE TRI-STATE. SO THERE’S THE THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY FROM TONIGHT, SCOOTING OUT OF HERE WITH ITS SEVERE COMPONENTS. BUT NOTE THE NATURE OF THIS ACTIVITY KIND OF LINING UP FROM NORTHEAST TO SOUTHWEST. THAT’S WHAT WE CALL TRAINING OF STORMS. I THINK INITIALLY THE FLOOD THREAT IS CENTERED TO THE SOUTHEAST OF CINCINNATI. BUT EVEN THIS LIGHT TO MODERATE RAIN THAT’S FALLING THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS WILL ACT LIKE A PRIMER FOR THE GROUND, SO TO SPEAK. THAT’S ALREADY FAIRLY WET AND WILL KIND OF SOFTEN UP THE GROUND EVEN MORE WHEN WE START TO GET EVEN HEAVIER RAIN IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. THAT COULD PRODUCE, YOU KNOW, MORE OF A FLOOD THREAT, ESPECIALLY AS WE GET INTO THURSDAY AND FRIDAY. SO THAT CONCLUDES WHAT HAS BEEN AN ACTIVE NIGHT OF STORMY WEATHER. AS MIKE MENTIONED, YOU’LL PROBABLY HEAR A FEW MORE BOOMS OF THUNDER THROUGH THE REST OF THE NIGHT, BUT OTHERWISE THE SEVERE THREAT HAS AT LEAST COMMENCED FOR THIS PARTICULAR ROUND OF ACTIVE SPRING WEATHER. TONIGHT, THE MORNING SHOW WILL HAVE A FULL UPDATE ON ALL THE DAMAGE MIKE MENTIONED. I AGREE AS WELL THAT ONCE THE SUN COMES UP, YOU’LL PROBABLY FIND MORE TREES DOWN AROUND THE AREA. USE EXTRA CAUTION IN THE MORNING. THERE COULD BE POWER LINES DOWN. WE’VE GOT JUST SHY OF 50,000 WITHOUT POWER TONIGHT, SO THERE COULD BE A WHOLE HOST OF THINGS TO STILL THAT YOU COULD FACE TOMORROW MORNING AS YOU GET READY TO HEAD OUT. BUT THAT’S IT FOR NOW. WE’RE SIGNING OFF FOR TONIGHT. OF COURSE, THE MORNING TEAM RANDI IS ALREADY HERE. SHE WILL BE HERE TO KEEP YOU UP TO DATE ON TOMORROW’S RAIN THREAT AND ANY ADDITIONA
