The final round of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans has been suspended due to weather.
The PGA Tour announced the suspension at 3:42 p.m. ET due to inclement weather. The tournament is played in at TPC Louisiana in Avondale, Louisiana, southwest of New Orleans, and lighting was detected in the area, resulting in the suspension. Sunday’s forecast in the area had a chance of isolated thunderstorms with 20% chance of rain in the afternoon.
It is the second consecutive day lightning has caused a suspension of play in the tournament as it occurred in the third round on Saturday.
A longtime tournament, the Zurich Classic is a team event.
The team of Andrew Novak and Benn Griffin are currently on top of the leaderboard at 29-under-par. They just finished the seventh hole and are the last group that teed off on Sunday alongside Jake Knapp and Frankie Capan III, who are in second at 26-under-par.
