Ex-Bruins burn old team as Boston loses at home

BOSTON — The Blackhawks scored three goals in 94 seconds early in the third period to beat the Bruins, 5-2, in a battle of struggling Original 6 teams on Thursday at TD Garden.

The Bruins will go on the road for the final time on Sunday to face the Penguins and return home for the regular season finale on Tuesday against New Jersey.

Chicago’s first three goals were all scored by former Bruins.

David Pastrnak’s torrid end to the season continued. He put the Bruins up 1-0, 10:39 into the game, on an assist from Elias Lindholm, who has heated up lately as well.

Nick Foligno tied the game early in the second for that period’s only goal as the teams went to intermission tied 1-1.

The Blackhawks scored on their first three shots of the third to turn a competitive game into another tough night in a season filled with them.

Ryan Donato was the second member of the Bruins Alumni Chicago Chapter to beat Jeremy Swayman and Tyler Bertuzzi added another to make it 3-1, 1:09 later.

Kevin Korchinski never played for the Bruins, but he scored anyway, 24 seconds after Bertuzzi to make it 4-1.

Morgan Geekie added his 31st on an assist from Pastrnak to make it 4-2, but the Bruins never really threatened.

Foligno added an empty-netter to seal it.

Swayman made 17 saves in the loss.
