Editorial: RMU’s return to the NCAA Tournament
Updated: 1:31 PM EDT Mar 21, 2025
THIS IS A WTAE EDITORIAL SPEAKING ON BEHALF OF THE EDITORIAL BOARD IS CHARLES W. WOLFERTZ III PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER OF WTAE. ONCE AGAIN, WESTERN PA IS BEING REPRESENTED IN THE MEN’S MARCH MADNESS TOURNAMENT. THE ROBERT MORRIS MEN’S TEAM, WITH HEAD COACH ANDY TOOLE, HAVE REACHED THE TOURNAMENT FOR THE PROGRAM’S 10TH TIME WITH A 26 AND EIGHT RECORD. ON MARCH 11TH, THE COLONIALS SECURED THEIR FIRST HORIZON LEAGUE TITLE WITH AN 8978 VICTORY OVER YOUNGSTOWN STATE. THE SEASON IS EVEN MORE REMARKABLE AS THE PROGRAM IS COMING OFF A ROUGH 2024 SEASON WITH A RECORD OF TEN AND 22. THANKS TO THAT TURNAROUND, THIS WILL BE THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2015 WHEN THE TEAM ACTUALLY GETS TO PLAY. THEY QUALIFIED FOR THE 2020 TOURNAMENT, WHICH ENDED UP BEING CANCELED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. WE BELIEVE MARCH MADNESS IS BUILT FOR CINDERELLA STORIES, AND RMU HAS A CHANCE TO RIGHT ONE THIS YEAR AS A 15 SEED. BEST OF LUCK TO THE RMU MEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM THIS WEEKEND.
