The Arizona Diamondbacks’ series finale against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on Sunday was delayed multiple times due to rain and lightning.
First pitch was scheduled for 11:20 a.m. MST. The first pitch was thrown at 12 p.m. before rain and lightning delayed the game again. The game resumed at 1:12 p.m.

Sunday is the final day of a six-game road trip for the Diamondbacks before being off on Monday. The D-backs are 3-2 on the trip, losing the first games of the series against the Cubs after sweeping the Miami Marlins.
Sunday’s pitching matchup in Chicago is Merrill Kelly against Jameson Taillon.
Kelly is 3-1 with a 5.57 ERA and is coming off a start in Miami on Tuesday where he pitched six innings, recording nine strikeouts and allowing only one run in a 10-4 win against the Marlins.
Taillon is 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA and is coming off a start on Monday in San Diego where he pitched 5.1 innings, giving up two runs on four hits with four strikeouts in a 10-4 loss to the Padres.
