Washington (7News) — Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s bag was stolen at a Washington restaurant over the weekend, a DHS official has confirmed with ABC News.

The bag contained $3,000 in cash, her passport, makeup bag, DHS access card, apartment key, and other items.

A DHS official explained to ABC News that Noem had the cash because her family was in town and she was treating them to Easter festivities.

The theft occurred when a man wearing a mask walked by the secretary’s table and snatched the bag. The Secret Service is investigating, according to the DHS official.
