Darren Elkins vs Julian Erosa Prediction
Darren Elkins seems to be getting better with age as at the age of 40, he is fighting as well as ever and comes into UFC 314 having won his last two fights and five of his last seven. The veteran may not be fighting as regularly now but he comes off a Fight of the Night display against Daniel Pineda which saw him win a unanimous decision.
He now takes on 35-year-old Julian Erosa who is equally coming off two wins in his last two and five in his last seven. His last four losses have all come via knockout which is certainly a concern but he remains dangerous having picked up first-round submissions in his last two fights against Ricardo Ramos and Christian Rodriguez.
This feels like one of those perfect matchups that the UFC matchmakers can be proud up and it is understandable to see why they made it. Both are dangerous fighters in their own right but do not appear to possess the weapons like punching power to overly threaten the other at this stage of their careers.
We cannot see either man getting the stoppage here and we do not love the odds on Erosa. We would marginally prefer Erosa to get the win but it is hard to rule out Elkins. Our play is on Erosa to get the win via decision here.
Prediction: Julian Erosa to win by decision
