Cub Tracks waits for the meatloaf

The going is weird. Cub Tracks™ turned pro a long time ago. Cub Tracks™. Where the great ones run away.

Any MLB team can beat you. The good teams WILL beat you.

It’s important to remember that the Cubs are one of those ‘good teams’, prospering despite a skein of unfortunate circumstances coloring the yarn. This is potentially an historic season. It feels like it, but we’ve been here before, so there’s a tang of salt in the mix.

Today our narrative includes the Milwaukee Brewers — the Cubs’ manager’s old squad, who has by all accounts assembled a close-knit group of players (they daily speak of this — Patrick Mooney illustrates in his article, below).

Better living through chemistry, the old hippie in me says, and pardon me for being discontinuous but PCA’s great game is yesterday’s news (except to Justin Steele). Today we would have coverage of the one about the Milwaukee phenom (Jacob Misiorowski) and the rock and scissors game the Cubs play, but the game was postponed due to rain and was rescheduled for August 18, as part of a split double-header, and there the metaphor unspools and falls to the floor for the cats to argue over.

The game today is still on and starts at 6:20 HST, or 1:20 p.m. to people in the Central time zone. I prefer my meatloaf stuffed with cheddar jack, covered in bacon, and sauced with Sweet Baby Ray’s. YMMV. May we all get our wishes.
