Commanders agree to trade for Texans star left tackle Laremy Tunsil

In their latest blockbuster trade, the Washington Commanders agreed to acquire star left tackle Laremy Tunsil from the Houston Texans for a package of draft picks, a person with knowledge of the situation said Monday afternoon.

The Commanders will give up third- and seventh-round picks in 2025 and second- and fourth-round picks in 2026. The Texans also sent the Commanders a 2025 fourth-round pick, meaning the Commanders will have five picks in April’s draft after the deal becomes official Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Tunsil, who will turn 31 in August, is regarded as one of the league’s best left tackles. His arrival should instantly upgrades the Commanders’ offensive line and allow the team to move Brandon Coleman, who played left tackle as a rookie most of last season, to right tackle or to guard.

Tunsil has two years left on his contract, with $21.35 million due in cash each season.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
