Coffee recalled from over a dozen states, including Ohio, for unintended ingredient

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – The FDA issued a recall for a brand of coffee grounds for potentially containing an unintended ingredient, which the organization said could cause “adverse health consequences.”

The Food and Drug Administration issued a recall on March 13 after the coffee’s manufacturer voluntarily notified the department that some of the coffee, which was labelled decaffeinated, may have been improperly labelled and actually did contain caffeine.

The specific coffee affected was: Coffee Roasters Our Family Traverse City Cherry Artificially Flavored Decaf Light Roast Ground Coffee, 12 oz., UPC: 070253110801, best by: 08/03/2025.

The recall was classified as Class II by the FDA, which means “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

The product was distributed to 15 states, including Ohio.

No press release was issued for the recall, but customers are generally advised to throw away any recalled products, or to return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
