An AMBER Alert on Monday afternoon was canceled after a mother was found who allegedly abducted her 10-month-old son.

This, according to a release on Facebook from the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement has been told that the mother, identified as Chelsea Daniels, was upset and distraught because her son had been taken from her custody by a court order.

On Monday, Daniels took her son against court orders.

Information was received that Daniels had sent messages containing threats of harming herself and the baby, according to the Sheriff’s Office Facebook post.

She was reportedly armed with a handgun and considered dangerous.

Law enforcement got several tips following the issuance of an AMBER Alert. One of those tips involved a vehicle matching the description of a black Ford Explorer being driven by Daniels. The Explorer was also being driven by a woman.

The location of the Explorer was within miles of a ping done on Daniels’ phone earlier in the day.

Churchill County Sheriff’s Office Patrol and Investigations units were in the area due to the pings and located an Explorer driving down a mountain road.

Officers in a marked Churchill County Patrol Vehicle tried to stop the Explorer, but it did not stop.

The patrol vehicle followed the Explorer with its emergency lights and siren on, but it still did not stop.

When it did eventually stop, the driver was identified as Daniels. She was taken into custody on various charges.

Her son was found safe in the car.

Authorities are investigating how she was able to take back her son.

Update (3/31/2025, 3:37 p.m.):

According to Nevada Emergency Management, the AMBER Alert for Lyric Smitten has been cancelled.

Lyric and his mother Chelsea Daniels have been located in Churchill County.

An AMBER Alert has been issued this afternoon for a child who was allegedly kidnapped in the Fallon area.

According to the official alert, around 8:00 a.m. a ten-month old child named Lyric Smitten was taken by his mother Chelsea Daniels. They were last seen at the Walmart in Fallon.

Officials are asking the public to be on the look out for a black 2006 Ford Explorer with Nevada plate 714S57. As of now, no images of the mother, child or vehicle have been released.

Lyric has white/blond hair with gray eyes. The mother, Chelsea, is 32 years old, 5’4″ tall, around 174 pounds with brown hair and green eyes.

If you do happen to see the vehicle, do not approach as the mother is supposedly armed.

If you see the vehicle, reach out to local law enforcement with the information or call 911.
