(KRON) — Multiple eastbound lanes on the Bay Bridge were shut down due to police activity Wednesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Eastbound lanes 1 and 5 of I-80 just west of Treasure Island were closed.
As of 4:50 p.m., lane 1 has been reopened. Lane 5 remains closed.
First responders were dispatched to the sides of the bridge. The police activity is due to a person experiencing a mental health crisis, according to CHP.
“Please avoid the area & exercise patience while we attempt to resolve this incident,” the CHP said.
