Global streaming powerhouse Netflix is currently grappling with a massive outage that has irked millions of users worldwide, according to Down Detector.
The service interruptions are predominantly hitting subscribers in major U.S. cities including Boston, New York, Chicago, Dallas, and Los Angeles, and are also being experienced abroad. Those in the UK, Brazil, Australia, Japan, and dozens of other countries are also likely to experience issues with logging in or streaming itself.
Users have encountered the error code tvq-rnd-100 when attempting to access their accounts, as per reports from Netflix officials, noting that issues started around 2 p.m. EST. That’s when customers log in to watch their favorite shows, like ‘You,’ which premiered a new season today.

DownDetector.com is showing a rise in reports from users unable to access Netflix
According to Netflix’s own guidance, the error code tvq-rnd-100 suggests a device’s failure to connect with Netflix due to network troubles, typically accompanied by an error message such as ‘Netflix has encountered an error’ or ‘Retrying in [X] seconds.’
It advises customers to try rebooting their devices, resetting their home networks, or logging out and back into Netflix as potential fixes.
Posting on a user forum, one customer warned peers: “I’m having issues connecting. Getting error code tvq-rnd – 100. I called Netflix today and they said it’s a new problem and they’re working on it and when they fix it Netflix will work for me again.”

An additional subscriber recounted, “I was in my profile and it showed all of the shows from my parents’ profile, so i went to theirs hoping it would fix it and it shut me down. This happened on my ipad and firestick.”
A different user mentioned a workaround that was effective for them: “My problem was solved after changing the profile name.”
Global users are currently experiencing service interruptions, including those in the UK, where frustrations mount as one individual lamented their inability to stream the latest installment of You, a highly anticipated series on Netflix debuting its new season today. “Anyone else’s Netflix down? I wanted to watch You,” an X user queried.
Another viewer reported being abruptly cut off mid-episode by an unpredictable error that remains unresolved. “My Netflix is down and I was in the middle of my episode of You,” they expressed.
Comments poured in from around the world with users eager to compare access issues. “I tried logging into Netflix here in Dubai and it isn’t working,” mentioned someone else on X. Queries like “Anyone else in the UK having problems with #Netflix tonight?” surfaced as well.
Meanwhile, a Brazilian user resonated similar sentiments in Portuguese, with others sharing their queries in multiple languages, including Chinese and Spanish, all looking for answers on X. Addressing the situation, Netflix acknowledged: “While the service is not down in all countries, user reports indicate that some users in certain regions may be experiencing issues.”
Online disruptions due to technical errors or high traffic volumes are not unusual occurrences. Just in the past hour, DownDetector also noted a malfunction impacting Open AI, where a notable uptick in outage complaints started at 3 p.m. and sharply increased by 6 p.m. EST. The majority of concerns pertained to Chat GPT, with users encountering ‘Failed to load subscription’ notifications.
Likewise, the app Instacart was reported to be down for users across the U.S. attempting to finish their grocery shopping. Most reports on X and message boards suggest that the glitches are happening on the shoppers’ side.
