Francisco Lindor Makes Mets’ History During Phillies Game

The New York Mets are at home on Monday night as they are facing off against the Philadelphia Phillies in a National League East showdown.

It has been a great season thus far for the Mets as they entered Monday’s series opener with a 15-7 record, which has them sitting at the top of the NL East standings.

For the Phillies, they wit two games behind the Mets in the NL East with a 13-9 record and they will look to draw closer in this week’s series.

Of course, the Mets are coming off a series sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals in a series that saw New York’s superstar shortstop Francisco Lindor take over.

Against the Cardinals, Lindor blasted a walk off home run on Friday and then added another long ball to lead off the game on Sunday.

On Monday against the Phillies, Lindor picked up right where he left off, launching a leadoff home run to start off the game, giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.

This marks back-to-back games that Lindor has hit a leadoff home run, which has him join elite company in Mets history to do so.

Lindor became just the third Mets player to hit a leadoff home run in back-to-back games, joining Kaz Matsui and Curtis Granderson.

This is a massive feat for the star shortstop, who has had a great start to the 2025 MLB season thus far.

Lindor is batting .271 this season with four home runs and 10 RBI as the Mets continue to be one of the best teams in the league despite the slow start from their massive free agent signing, Juan Soto.

With Lindor playing the way he has, along with most of the Mets’ lineup, especially Pete Alonso, the sky is the limit for New York this season, especially whenever Soto gets things going.
