THIS IS WHAT SHE SAYS HAPPENED JUST WITHIN THE LAST HOUR OR SO. THERE IS SUCH A HUGE SENSE OF SHOCK ACROSS EVERYONE. I MEAN, LITERALLY, I WALKED BY PEOPLE LOOKING AT THEIR PHONES. JAW DROPPED AS I WAS ON MY WALK HERE. I HAD TICKETS TO COME SEE THE BASILICA TODAY, AND I WAS ABOUT HALFWAY HERE WHEN I GOT THE NOTIFICATION TO MY PHONE THAT THIS HAPPENED. SHE MANAGED TO GET ACCESS INSIDE THE BASILICA AS PART OF A TOUR. THIS IS A LOOK JUST AN HOUR AFTER IT WAS ANNOUNCED THAT POPE FRANCIS HAD PASSED AWAY. YOU CAN SEE PEOPLE SINGING THERE. PEOPLE GATHERING. SHE SAYS, EVEN WALKING INTO THE BASILICA, PEOPLE WERE CRYING AND JUST A SENSE OF SHOCK ALL AR

Pope Francis, who was named to the papacy in 2013, has died at the age of 88.His death comes about two months after he was hospitalized for over 30 days for a respiratory crisis that developed into double pneumonia. Jillian Timmerman, the sister of WLWT anchor Megan Mitchell, is in the Vatican Monday as part of a scheduled vacation. “There is such a huge sense of shock across everyone,” Timmerman shared with WLWT. “I mean, literally, I walked by people looking at their phones, jaw dropped as I was on my walk here. I had tickets to come to the Basilica today and was halfway here when I got the notification to my phone that this happened.”She was able to enter Saint Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City as part of a tour, and captured singing inside as they mourn and remember Pope Francis.She says people all over the Vatican are in a state of shock.Timmerman says people walking into the Basilica are crying, especially after Francis made a public appearance for Easter Sunday.
