Lee Corso, who led the Indiana football team for 10 seasons, will retire from ESPN College GameDay after nearly 40 years.
ESPN announced the news on April 17. Corso has been with the network since 1987.
“My family and I will be forever indebted for the opportunity to be part of ESPN and College GameDay for nearly 40 years,” Corso said in a statement released by ESPN. “I have a treasure of many friends, fond memories and some unusual experiences to take with me into retirement.”
Corso was the head football coach at IU from 1973 to 1982 and had a record of 41–68–2. In 1972, he led the Hoosiers to a Holiday Bowl victory over BYU.
Corso, who will turn 90 in August, will make his final GameDay appearance on Saturday, Aug. 30. The location has not been determined.

Corso joined ESPN in 1987 after a 28-year coaching career. He was the head coach at Louisville, Indiana and Northern Illinois. He also coached the USFL’s Orlando Renegades in 1985.
