Son Heung-min and Wilson Odobert are not in the Tottenham squad to face Wolves.
Ange Postecoglou’s side face the Midlands club in the Premier League on Sunday hoping to pick up a win ahead of the crucial Europa League quarter-final second leg against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday. When team news for the Wolves fixture was confirmed at 12:45pm, there was a surprise with club captain Son not in the Spurs squad at all.
Speaking to the media before kick-off, Postecoglou confirmed Son sustained a slight knock on his foot, while Odobert’s minutes are simply being managed. “Sonny got a knock on his foot so just being a bit cautious with him,” the Spurs boss said.
“Wilson, like I said, we’re managing him at the moment. Both should be available for Thursday.”
Mathys Tel, Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson all start for Tottenham, while Dejan Kulusevki returns to the bench. Richarlison is also among the substitutes.
Son has struggled for much of the 2024/25 campaign, with the club captain scoring 11 goals in 43 appearances. Odobert, meanwhile, has missed large periods due to a hamstring injury and the club do not want to ask too much too soon.
Asked during his pre-match press conference if he would make changes to the Tottenham team to face Wolves, Postecoglou said: “Yeah, bit of a combination with Thursday in mind, but also with Sunday in mind because obviously there was a big physical toll last night [against Frankfurt], so you know away at Wolves is a challenging game, but I think for us it’ll be about sort of managing minutes of some guys, but also getting some minutes into other guys.
“We’ll need a big game, big performance on Sunday, so having some fresh legs will help, but also looking to next Thursday, like I said it’s not just about resting guys or managing guys, it’s also about having guys ready next week as it could go to 120 minutes and we need people ready to go so a combination of those factors we’ll make some changes.”
