Ed Sheeran has offered a rare comment about his years-long friendship with Taylor Swift, sharing a memory that Call Her Daddy‘s Alex Cooper thought was “beautiful.”

The “Photograph” singer was the latest guest on her podcast, where, of course, the longtime friend and collaborator of the Eras Tour superstar couldn’t let a question about her go unanswered.

“You and Taylor Swift have been friends for decades,” Cooper pointed out, asking him to select a “favorite memory” with the “Red” songstress, but, rather than a specific instance, Sheeran looked back on an entire length of time with fondness.

While recently engaged in copyright battles in court, Sheeran needed to go through all of the content on his old phones and provide his lawyers with evidence like songwriting voice notes. In the process, he also scrolled through his old texts, including from when he was opening up for Swift on the Red Tour.

“I lived in Nashville, and she lived in Nashville, and we used to fly to and from the gigs together,” he shared. “I literally spent almost every single day with her for about six months, so I think that period of time…”

Now, they get to see each other “like four times a year,” where they enjoy “proper sit-down six-hour catch-ups” with one another. “I think that that’s a really nice way to do it,” Sheeran added. “But I think that period [is my favorite], yeah. 2013.”
