Protests and counter-protests take place at Columbus Tesla dealership

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Protests continued Saturday at the Tesla dealership in Easton, where demonstrators voiced their opposition to Elon Musk’s role in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Protesters held signs, waved flags, and expressed their frustrations as part of a nationwide movement urging people to boycott Teslas. The protests are in response to cuts to government organizations.

A counter-protest took place across the street, with both groups coordinating with Columbus Police to remain in designated areas.

Tesla’s stock has seen a significant decline since its peak in December, following President Trump’s election and his appointment of Musk to lead DOGE. On December 17, Tesla’s stock was valued at $479.86, but it has since dropped to $263.55, including a three-and-a-half-point decrease today.

This marks the first organized protest against Musk’s DOGE efforts, with supporters using social media to spread their message. Earlier in the week, rumors circulated that members of the Proud Boys organization might attend the protest, although their presence was not confirmed.

A smaller group of demonstrators gathered in support of Musk and President Trump’s agenda.
