Good Burger actor Jan Patrick “J.P.” Schwieterman died Feb. 28, the New York Post reports. He was 52.
According to his obituary, he died at Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri. His brother Chad Schwieterman also shared the news in a March 1
, revealing that the late former actor “recently found out he had an aggressive form of stage 4 cancer.” The type of cancer was not specified.
“Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this difficult time,” Chad added. “Rest in peace, brother. We love you and miss you.”
Schwieterman played villain Kurt Bozwell in the 1997 Nickelodeon comedy, owner of Good Burger’s competitor Mondo Burger. He did not appear in the recent sequel, Good Burger 2, in which Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell reprised their respective roles of Dexter and Ed. The new film, which began streaming on Paramount+ in November 2023, also featured appearances from Mark Cuban and Pete Davidson.
Born in Bluffton, Indiana on Sept. 30, 1972, Schwieterman made his way to California after high school to pursue acting. Other credits of Schwieterman’s include McKenna, ER, Forever, NightMan, Felicity, and Undressed. Per IMDb, his most recent role was earned in the 2007 drama Along the Way.
Outside of acting, Schwieterman “loved to travel,” most recently taking a trip to Thailand, per his obituary. He also enjoyed photography and painting, in addition to martial arts and playing Dungeons and Dragons.
Other than his brother Chad, Schwieterman is survived by his mother, father, two sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
